Reasoning is scored by method, not luck. Here's the approach for each common topic — for Bank, SSC and RRB. From Veda Topper International, Irinjalakuda.
Coding–decoding
- Check letter positions (A=1 … Z=26) and reverse positions.
- Look for +n / −n shifts, mirror letters, or symbol substitution patterns.
Blood relations
- Draw a family tree; use + for male, − for female.
- Solve the statement step by step from the speaker outward.
Direction sense
- Always draw it. Start facing North unless told otherwise.
- Track turns (left/right) and use Pythagoras for shortest distance.
Syllogism
- Draw Venn diagrams for the statements.
- A conclusion is true only if it holds in every possible diagram.
- Watch "possibility" cases and "either-or" pairs.
Seating arrangement & puzzles
- List fixed clues first; build the certain part of the arrangement.
- Use a table/circle; mark facing direction (inside/outside).
- Eliminate options; don't assume unstated facts.
Series, analogy & classification
- Number series: check +, −, ×, ÷, squares, cubes, alternating patterns.
- Analogy: find the exact relationship in the first pair, then apply it.
- Odd-one-out: find the common property the others share.
Exam-room tips
- Attempt easy, single-answer questions first; leave long puzzles for later.
- Practise daily — speed in reasoning comes only from repetition.
