What is NIOS?
NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling / നാഷണൽ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ഓപ്പൺ സ്കൂളിംഗ്) is the national open schooling board under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It offers a government-recognised 10th (SSLC) and Plus Two (Senior Secondary) that you can complete from anywhere, at your own pace, with no upper age limit.
Streams & eligibility
Plus Two streams: Humanities, Commerce, Computer Science and Science. Plus Two needs an SSLC/10th pass; 10th needs a Class 8 pass (or as per NIOS norms). There is no upper age limit, so working people, homemakers, NRIs and those whose studies were interrupted can all join.
