Percentage & fractions

x% of y = (x/100) × y
Increase/decrease % = (change / original) × 100
Learn fraction-equivalents: 1/2=50%, 1/3≈33.33%, 1/4=25%, 1/5=20%, 1/6≈16.67%, 1/8=12.5%

Profit & loss

Profit% = (Profit / CP) × 100; Loss% = (Loss / CP) × 100
SP = CP × (100 + Profit%)/100; CP = SP × 100/(100 + Profit%)
Discount% = (Discount / Marked Price) × 100

Simple & compound interest

SI = (P × R × T) / 100
CI: A = P (1 + R/100)ᵀ; CI = A − P
Difference (2 yrs) = P (R/100)²

Ratio, proportion & average

If a:b = c:d then ad = bc
Average = (sum of observations) / (number of observations)

Time & work

If A does a work in n days, one day's work = 1/n
A & B together: 1/A + 1/B per day; time = (A×B)/(A+B)

Time, speed & distance

Speed = Distance / Time
1 km/h = 5/18 m/s; 1 m/s = 18/5 km/h
Train crossing a pole: time = length / speed; crossing a platform: time = (length + platform)/speed
